Connect to any data source

InfoPlanIT Visual analyzer is able to connect to any relational database. This includes: SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, MS Access, SQLite, Excel, XML, ODBC, and even MS Analysis Services cubes. When connected to a relational datasource, InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer will provide you with a default schema, which allows you to model your data however you see fit. If you need to disconnect your data from the network and take it with you, this can easily be done by saving your relational data to an external cube file. Cube files are created from relational databases on-demand, or through an automated scheduled job. (i.e. daily, hourly, etc.). InfoPlanIT cube files provide a snapshots of the relational data and can be compacted to leave a very small footprint.

InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer also connects directly to SQL Server Analysis Services. This technology allows multi-dimensional data to be extracted and manipulated with sub-second response times. There is no need to configure a complex schema for analyzing your data, because InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzing infers the schema automatically to allow you to begin analyzing the data immediately. This is a nice compliment to the Business Intelligence Suite of products from Microsoft SQL Server product line.

OLAP technology

OLAP technology stands for OLine Analytical Processing. This is exactly what InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer allows you to do. Once you’ve configured your connections using the windows application, you can then go online and analyze your data using your favorite web browser. With InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer, you are able to connect to your data over a standard HTTP protocol and filter live data using nothing more than your mouse. Our interactive web experience enables you to analyze your data in much the same way you would inside the windows application.

Windows (local and server based) and Web (server based)

We offer multiple solutions for your company. Depending on your needs, we have a solution that would fit to your system requirements. Using our windows product, you are able to connect to any database on the local network or directly from your machine. When you take your analysis to the web, the same concepts are applicable. As long as your web server has access to the database, your users are able to analyze the data and share layouts. If security is a concern, InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer allows group level security for your connections and dashboards.

Tabular and Graphical representation of data

Many times, users need a simple tabular display of data to understand their data. With simple tabular data, users are typically take the data and put their results into Excel to do further analysis to calculate their data, sort it, filter it, and style it to fit their needs. The beauty of using InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer is that there is no need to take your data to Excel. InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer has a lot of built-in functionality that enables real time visual analysis. If you do find that you need to take your data into Excel, there is a built-in export for that. However, by viewing your data visually with bars and lines, you allow the data to tell it’s own story and enable the numbers to jump out at you. Seeing your data in easy-to-understand charts, rather than tabular text format gives you a deeper insight to the data. InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer will prove the age old “a picture is worth 1,000 words”. Using extensive research, we’ve taken many of the visual techniques that make analyzing multi-dimensional data easy to analyze and baked it right into our solution. Using InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer enables your key outliers to become more visible, thus allowing you to focus on the “exceptions”.  By using colors or shapes you can isolate data and spot trends easier than ever before.

Powerful data analysis tools

Analyzing data is so much more than looking at a report or seeing the results of a consolidated chart. InfoPlanIT realizes that the process of analyzing data is typically complex and sometimes mundane. The problem in most cases is that users are not equipped with the right tools to do free form analysis against their data. InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer takes the complexity and monotony out of analyzing data, and makes exploring your database fun and very enlightening. Users are able to filter their data with a simple click of a mouse or drag and drop operation. Sorting data can be done with a single menu click, and slicing your data between multiple dimensions is as simple a dragging a field to the right or left of another field. Analysis displays can go from a huge table of numbers to a series of visually appealing chart displays.

Layout manager saves time and enables sharing

Using InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer, users are able to build a report or chart and save that configuration (sort definitions, filters, and all..) to their profile. If the user wishes to share that display with another user, they can easily do so by using the online layout manager. From here users are able to organize, share, and manage their layouts. Consider a scenario where a user finds that a certain product line is loosing money in a particular region due to some unforeseen factor. The user could simply give that layout a name, and share it with another user. That user could then open that same exact display and begin doing their own analysis on it, which might result in one or more other layouts. The possibilities are limitless.

Online analysis widgets

InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer allows users to take their analysis experience a step farther by enabling their saved layouts to become data sources for other data bound displays. Once a user has configured a layout and given it a name, they can then use this layout (taking it’s filters and other settings) as the underlying data source for one or more analysis widgets. Imagine the possibilities with this capability for a second… Consider a layout named “Profit vs. Sales Analysis”, you could setup a small ‘Chart’ widget that lists the ‘Product Name’ and the ‘Sales’ for each Month. If you would like to update the display of the ‘Chart’ widget, simply go back to the layout and modify the filter from Year ’2009′ to year ’2010′ and your chart display is immediately updated with the new values. This is a very powerful feature of the InfoPlanIT Visual Analysis product.

Dashboards (Web) group various Analysis Widgets together

The beauty of analyzing data is not only the insight that you gain during your analysis experience, but it also needs to be consolidated and shared with others in order to be of value. This is where InfoPlanIT’s Online Dashboard Module comes into play. Using an intuitive online designer, users can publish multiple charts and tables into a single organized display that tells a single story.

Published analytics (Web) can be embedded inside any 3rd party web application or Microsoft Office (Excel or PowerPoint)

InfoPlanIT Visual Analyzer ships with a Microsoft Office Add-In that allows your analysis results to be easily embedded into PowerPoint Presentations, Excel Spreadsheets, and Word Documents. No long do business analysts have to spend hours and hours building chart displays only to take screenshots and tell stories about the chart being displayed… only to have to do the same thing next month. Using this add-in, users can simply choose a layout from their drop down and add it to their report. Next month, they simply have to ‘Update’ the chart with the latest numbers. It makes building your monthly reports a breeze!
